Dear Theta Phi Alphas,
How do you model service for others in your life? Before joining Theta Phi Alpha, the extent of my service to others was donating canned goods to a schoolwide food drive at my high school during the holidays each year. I had never heard the term philanthropy. All that changed when I became a member of Theta Phi Alpha.
Philanthropy is a part of our mission - To create close comradeship, to advance educational, social, and philanthropic interests and leadership training, to encourage spiritual development and adherence to the highest moral standards, and to promote lifelong bonds of friendship. Philanthropy (and community service) allows us to support projects and causes that will make a difference in our campuses and communities.
Our philanthropy, The House That Theta Phi Alpha Built is flexible to allow support in your local community to support the cause of homelessness and provide shelter. Our chapters, associations, and members participated this month in Theta Phi Alpha Day of Service. As I look through social media, I see our members making a difference through collections of food, clothing, and feminine hygiene products for shelters, assembling food packages, repairing homeless shelters, volunteering at animal shelters, and more.
