COVID-19 Mask Policy for Chapters

Updated Nov. 2021

Sep 1, 2021 | Categories: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Sisters,

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, Theta Phi Alpha National Office has continually monitored recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the state-governed health departments where our chapters operate, and your local campus directives in order to better inform our decisions for safely operating our collegiate chapters.

Theta Phi Alpha prioritizes our members’ and communities’ health and safety. Therefore, effective Sept. 1, 2021, Theta Phi Alpha is requiring all chapter members and guests, regardless of vaccination status, to wear face coverings/masks while at indoor chapter events and meetings. This requirement will extend through May 31, 2022.

We recognize this may be hard information to hear and not the way you expected your chapter to operate this fall. However, by having members wear face coverings/masks during this initial time together, we will help reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 between members and do our part to keep campuses open.

As we have learned, any plan relating to COVID-19 protocols are ever-changing and may need to be adjusted.  After the fall semester, the mask mandate protocol will be reviewed again.

While we cannot predict the impact of the virus this fall, our planning is ongoing and we will make necessary adjustments to requirements and guidelines if conditions change. For additional information about how this policy should be enacted in our Theta Phi facilities, please review the National Housing Corporation’s Mask Policy for both residential and non-residential facilities. Questions about this mask mandate should be directed to [email protected].

Yours in the bonds of sisterhood,

Kathryn Hartmann
Executive Director
